LA  GRANDE  BERGERIE

At La Grande Bergerie you will find an outdoor table tennis table as well as a swing set for children.  There are sets of "boules" to play in the courtyard, although your games will pale in expressiveness compared to those in the local villages where strong characters fortified with Pastis can make a game of boules as exciting as a World Cup Final.

For those that enjoy horseback riding there are many stables for gentle riding or for exploring the trails in the Luberon mountains.

Obviously hiking and walking, especially early in the morning or in the evening, are always to be enjoyed in thr fresh air scented with the wild herbs of the garrique, especially rosemary and thyme.  It is very easy to get away from any crowds.

Art, in its many forms, is readily enjoyed in the area.  In Lourmarin, there are many art galleries, often run by the artists themselves.

For a totally different art experience, you should visit Chateau la Coste in Puyricard (not to be confused with Chateau Lacoste of Marquis de Sade fame just to the north).  Here amidst the vines and the wooded hills around the Chateau is an amazing collection of sculptures spread over a 2km walk.  Finish by having a snack and a glass of their wine.

Music festivals and conserts abound, often in magnificent settings like the Chateau de Lourmarin or the Abbey of Senanque.

For children there is a large zoo (Barben), a huge maze and multiple other activities.
